📖 DETAILED GUIDE — Step by Step

🔍 WHY IT HAPPENS

Sound stops working almost always due to software confusion, NOT broken speakers:

- Your system is sending sound to a disconnected Bluetooth device or monitor

- Outdated or corrupted audio drivers

- Volume turned down in one app only while system volume is high

- Headphone jack blocked with dust/lint → connection fails

- Browser tab muted separately → you hear nothing from YouTube/streaming

✅ STEP-BY-STEP FULL FIX

Step 1 — Choose the RIGHT Audio Output

- Windows: Click speaker icon bottom-right → arrow/device name → select your Speakers / Headphones (not a monitor or old Bluetooth device)

- Mac: Click speaker icon top-right → Output → pick your active device

- Phone: Settings → Sound → check output selection

- 💡 This is the #1 cause — sound is working, just going to the wrong place!

Step 2 — Run the Built-In Troubleshooter

- Windows: Settings → System → Sound → Troubleshoot common sound problems → let Windows fix it automatically

- Mac: System Settings → Sound → verify Input & Output tabs show your device → adjust balance if needed

- Follow what it says → most issues fixed instantly!

Step 3 — Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers (Windows)

- Right-click Start → Device Manager

- Expand Sound, video and game controllers

- Right-click your audio (e.g. Realtek / Intel Smart Sound) → Update driver → Search automatically

- If that doesn't work → Uninstall device → Restart your computer → Windows reinstalls a fresh clean copy automatically!

Step 4 — Check App & Browser Volume Separately

- Windows: Right-click speaker → Open Volume Mixer → make sure individual app sliders are UP

- Browser: Check if the tab has a 🔇 mute icon → right-click → Unmute site

- Some apps have their own volume controls — check inside the app too!

Step 5 — Clear Headphone Jack / Port

- If sound works through speakers but NOT headphones → the jack may be blocked

- Gently clean with a dry toothpick or soft brush → remove dust/lint → reconnect

🛠️ STILL NO SOUND? TRY THESE:

- Bluetooth won't work? → Settings → Bluetooth → Forget the device → pair it again from scratch → fresh connection fixes most glitches

- Sound only quiet/distorted? → Try different headphones → test them on another device → could be a broken wire

- Nothing works at all? → Plug different speakers/headphones in → if they work → your old ones are the problem

- After all updates still silent? → Restart your computer one more time — sometimes drivers need that final reboot!
